Where to stay in Cancun for a rooftop pool

Punta Cancún has four of the 12 rooftop pools, and the nightlife. Three more sit in the Hotel Zone proper, three in the inland supermanzanas, and two out along the coast at Playa Mujeres and the road to Punta Sam.

The Hotel Zone is a 22.5 km beach strip along Avenida Kukulkan, so where you stay decides how far the roof is from everything else.

Punta Cancún

The busiest stretch of the Hotel Zone, nicknamed the Party Zone. It suits swimmers who want nightlife close to the pool. For a calmer base, the Nichupté Lagoon area is quieter.

Downtown

Four Points Cancun Centro is in Supermanzana 12, away from the Hotel Zone beaches. In the evening, Parque de las Palapas has food stalls and live music.

Along the coast

Garza Blanca Cancun is on Carretera a Punta Sam, with an oceanfront rooftop. Excellence Playa Mujeres is farther north, at Playa Mujeres.
