Go for

Couples and friends staying at the resort who want cocktails, a jacuzzi and an ocean view in daylight.

Not for you if

You need a day pass, a heated-pool guarantee, or a pool you can bring children to.

The pool sits on top of The Tower at Temptation Cancun, on Kukulcan Boulevard at Km 3.5 in the Hotel Zone. The hotel describes a private pool, jacuzzis and panoramic ocean views, all part of its Rooftop Daytime venue. It publishes no floor number, season or water temperature, and the whole resort is adults-only.

The good

  • Private rooftop pool with jacuzzis atop The Tower
  • Panoramic ocean views from the rooftop venue
  • Cocktail bar in the same Rooftop Daytime venue
  • Adults-only resort, so no children on the deck

What we think

If you want an adults-only rooftop, this is a strong choice: the Rooftop Daytime venue serves what the hotel calls top-tier cocktails, and it has jacuzzis as well as the pool. Mondrian Cancun, Garza Blanca and Hyatt Zilara also keep their rooftop pools adults-only. At Temptation the whole resort is adults-only, so there is no family side to avoid. The catch is access. Royalton Chic sells day passes from USD $120 and Hive Cancun from MX$700. Temptation publishes no pass, so plan to stay if you want the roof. Lounge chairs can't be reserved or set aside, so claim a spot when you arrive rather than sending a towel ahead.

Insider tips
  • Arrive early to pick your lounge chair: the hotel doesn't allow reserving or setting chairs aside.
  • Ask the hotel about the rooftop's opening hours when you book. It runs as a daytime venue, so don't plan a night swim.
